At present, plastic pallets have been applied to a wide range of manufacturing industries. Plastic pallets have the advantages of good integrity, hygiene and cleanliness, easy to wash and disinfect, combined with light weight, no nails, acid and alkali resistance, no mould and so on. At the same time, its service life is 5 to 7 times greater than that of wooden pallets. In addition, in view of the sustainable development strategy, plastic pallets can achieve waste utilisation, in line with the requirements of environmental protection. Although the price is higher, the actual cost of use is lower than wooden pallets. Nevertheless, there has been no attempt to use plastic pallets in automated three-dimensional high-bay warehouses used in conjunction with high-end automated equipment. Hence, whether plastic pallets can be used in automated three-dimensional high-bay warehouses is analysed for feasibility and specific design here.
